We recommend configuring products completely and accurately irrespective of whether you are using Hathi for fulfilling orders from other e-commerce channels or using Hathi Shopping App. In this guide we will explore the various properties of a product.
Label is a mandatory property on the product and is used to provide an overview of the product to customers on Hathi Shopping App. When customers search for a product, Hathi uses the product label to retrieve matching items. Try to limit the Label length to under 50 characters.
Description acts as a supplement to Product Label. You can use this property to provide additional context about a product. Please note that description is not visible to customers in search results and will only be displayed when customers navigate to the product screen on Hathi Shopping App.
Sales Tax Code associated with the product. This property controls how sales tax is charged for your customers when they make a purchase on your store. Selecting an appropriate Tax Code is important to ensure that your customers are charged accurately. If no Tax Code is selected Hathi uses General - Tangible Goods as the default Tax Code.
Please note that the sales tax is exclusive to the order subtotal. Meaning sales tax will be applied on top of the calculate order subtotal. The following is an illustration of how sales tax will be applied on products.
| Quantity | Price | Subtotal | Tax % | Tax Amount | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | $25.00 | $50.00 | 10% | $5.00 | $55.00 |
| 4 | $10.00 | $40.00 | 8% | $3.20 | $43.20 |
Categories are used to group products. When you select categories for a product, Hathi customers will be able to search and filter the product based on a category.
Select the return policy that applies to the product. If no return policy is assigned to a product Hathi treats it as not returnable by default.
Featured photo is the primary photo for the product and is used to show your product in different settings and contexts. Good product photos are important to attract customer attention to your products and store. If your product has multiple variants you can upload variant specific photos when you define them. Learn more about Photo guidelines.
Every product must have at least one variant. Variants are different offerings of the same product that might vary in one or more attributes like size, color, count etc. Grouping multiple variants into a single product offers customers the flexibility to view and compare the different options.
SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) numbers are used to keep track of your inventory and quickly identify what you have in stock. SKU numbers are unique to your store. If you have existing SKUs you use to track your inventory we recommend using the same numbers in Hathi for ease of reconciliation.
